According to the Christian Marriage Act, 1872 (Act) In Christian Marriage, the pastor recites the marriage of a boy and a girl in the presence of two witnesses, after which the papers are prepared and send for registration of the Christian religion law and NADRA union council for marriage registration certificate. In addition the legal minimum age of marriage is 18 in Pakistan but According to Christian marriage law the age of Christian marriage in Pakistan is 21 years and anyone below this age is considered a minor. In such circumstances, any individual between 18 and 21 would require a letter of consent or a NOC which means No Objection Certificate from their parents or legal guardian to proceed with the marriage.

According to Christian marriage law, no Christian boy can have two wives at the same time.

Christian Marriage Registration Certificate (MRC)

The Christian Marriages Act of 1872 under Sections 28, 29, 30, and 37, permits designated people to register Christian marriages. The Registrar General of Births, Deaths, and Marriages periodically receives these records.

Documents Required for Registration of Christian Court Marriage / Court Marriage

The following documents are required when you are considering doing an online marriage or register your marriage in Nadra union council.

  • ID Cards of both Bride and Groom (CNIC/ B.Form/ Birth Certificate if they are Pakistani Citizens, Passport copy if they are not a citizens of Pakistan).
  • If the woman marital status is other than single, then please provide those documents.
  • If the man marital status is other than single, then please provide those documents.
  • If bride or groom age under 21 then would require a letter of consent or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their parent or legal guardian to proceed with the marriage.
  • If there is a Prenup, we would be required to legalize that in Pakistan before its use (in Pakistan or abroad).
  • Marriage paper (In either English or Urdu) we will provide.
  • In some cases, A Special Power of Attorney on behalf of the Bride and Groom.
